The Trips

What fish can I catch on a Stuart Sport Fishing charter?

Stuart’s warm, Gulf Stream–fed waters offer year-round offshore fishing. Common targets include sailfish, mahi-mahi, kingfish, yellowfin tuna, amberjack, snapper, and grouper. What we’re targeting depends on the season and daily conditions — Captain Chris monitors the bite every day to put you on the fish.

What is the best time of year to fish in Stuart, Florida?

Fishing is great year-round in Stuart. Here’s a quick seasonal guide:

  • Fall–Winter (Oct–Feb): Peak sailfish season, plus great kingfish and bottom fishing
  • Spring (Mar–May): Mahi-mahi run kicks off, sailfish still active
  • Summer (Jun–Sep): Wahoo, yellowfin tuna, mahi-mahi, and amberjack dominate

Snapper and grouper bottom fishing is productive all twelve months.

Why is Stuart called the Sailfish Capital of the World?

The Gulf Stream passes just a few miles from the St. Lucie Inlet, pulling warm blue water — and dense schools of baitfish — unusually close to shore. Atlantic sailfish follow that bait and concentrate here in large numbers, especially October through April. Stuart’s sailfish catch rates are consistently among the highest on the entire Atlantic coast.

How far offshore do you go?

Because the Gulf Stream runs so close to the St. Lucie Inlet, we reach productive offshore fishing grounds within minutes of departure. That means more time fishing, less time running — a major advantage over charters departing from ports further south.

The Boat & Gear

What boat do you fish on?

We fish aboard the Go Getter — a Contender 36′ offshore powerhouse with triple 300hp Yamaha outboards and a deep-V hull for a smooth, stable ride even in challenging seas. It features advanced electronics, a purpose-built deck layout for serious fishing, a comfortable cabin, and clean onboard restroom facilities.

Do I need to bring my own fishing gear?

No. We provide everything — high-quality rods, reels, bait, tackle, and fishing licenses. You’re welcome to bring your own gear if you prefer, but it’s not necessary. Just show up ready to fish.

Does the boat have a restroom?

Yes. The Go Getter is equipped with clean, convenient restroom facilities for your comfort throughout the trip.

Booking & Policies

How do I book a charter?

The easiest way is through our online booking system at StuartSportFishing.com — fast, simple, and shows live availability. You can also call (772) 202-0623 or email Info@StuartSportFishing.com. We’re open seven days a week, 7 AM to 5 PM. Booking ahead is strongly recommended for weekends and peak sailfish season (October–April).

Can I keep the fish I catch?

Yes, within Florida and federal regulations. Species like mahi-mahi, kingfish, snapper, and grouper can typically be kept — we can arrange cleaning and packaging at the dock. Sailfish and other billfish are generally catch-and-release to preserve the world-class fishery that makes Stuart special. Captain Chris will brief you on the rules for the day.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Your safety is our top priority. If conditions are unsafe, Captain Chris will assess the weather and either reschedule the trip or offer alternative options. We’ll communicate any changes with you as early as possible so you can plan accordingly.

Are children welcome?

Absolutely. Fishing is a fantastic family activity and kids are always welcome aboard the Go Getter. We recommend children be at least 5 years old to fully participate in the fishing experience.

Are pets allowed on the boat?

Pets are not permitted on our charters. Service animals with proper documentation are welcome.
